fifth year has officially started...

i'm the first to admit that the start to my final year of studies has started tediously slow.  being your own compass for the year is a scary thought and alot more difficult than first anticipated.

however finding yourself sitting in the studio at 8:45pm on a friday evening could be a sign that 'fifth year has officially started'.

sitting in the still of the material studio with the sun setting as your backdrop and the soft glow of an adopted desk lamp is far cry from the glaring artifcally swamped main studio space within the school.

my companions throughout the evening where condemned building by douglas darden and drive original motion soundtrack by cliff martinez.

with that i shall leave you with two images of the shadows of dundee school of architecture.

instrument_001

my 5th year studio group 'material' have begun the year by setting out to complete a series of urban exercises within the city of Perth.

one of these exercises has resulted in the construction of a portable/mobile camera obscura.  so far it has been tested within the relative saftey of the material studio.  hopefully it shall venture out into the perthshire cityscape within the coming week.

below is our first output from the device which we are calling 'instrument_001'.

departure exhibition, man and machine

thought i would share a few pictures i recieved today from stephanie at departure which is a community arts centre in east london.

they have just finished up a small exhibition called 'man and machine' which investigates peoples relationships to machines and technology.  i was very much honered to be asked to show my short documentary '1030 x 875 mk I'

i really do wish i could of got down to of seen the exhibition as from what stephanie says it sounds like it created some very interesting conversations on how we relate to technology and the machines around us.
